Safar is a biannual and bilingual design and visual culture journal published in Beirut. The name Safar is Arabic for travel, and it refers to notions of communication, especially across disciplinal, cultural, and linguistic boundaries. Safar was created to remedy the scarcity of critical writings on design in the global south, and it aims to acknowledge designers as active agents of cultural production.
Over my time at Safar, I worked on the layout design, editorial content, communication strategy and merchandise design of the magazine’s 4th, 5th and 6th issue.
Additionally, I contributed with artworks for the articles “It must be Palestine” in the 5th issue, Migrations and for “Massa al Khayr” in the 6th issue, Power.
Journal Safar Design Member, 2018-2021
